The annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton Triangular Debate will be held tonight in each of the three Universities. Harvard will be represented at Yale by an affirmative team composed of F. W. P. Lorenzen '28, E. D. Rowe '27, and Barrett Williams '29, with Haven Hubbard '30 as alternate. At the same time the Crimson negative team will oppose Princeton in Cambridge.
As a preliminary to the Yale debate the University speakers for the affirmative decisively defeated the Columbia negative speakers in New York last night on the subject "Resolved. That this house favors the policy of the Coolidge Administration in regard to Nicaragua". The same subject will be debated in both of tonight's contests.
The Harvard negative team that will oppose the Princeton affirmative speakers tonight at 8 o'clock in Paine Hall will be A. S. Reel '28, D. T. Mantle '28 and D. W. Chapman '27, with Mark Winkler '28 as alternate.
The judges of the Debate tonight will be W. J. Abbott, Editor of the Christian Science Monitor; Reverend A. D. Leavitt of the Harvard Congregational Church, Brookline; and G. F. Williams, a Boston Attorney, and former Congressman.
Dr. John Dickinson of the Department of History, Government and Economics, will preside.
The debate last year against Yale on the subject. "Resolved: That education is the curse of the present age", was won by, Harvard by the unanimous vote of the judges. Two years ago Yale proved victorious over both Harvard and Princeton.
The Coolidge prize of $100 for that member of the Harvard team who has shown the greatest ability in preparation for the debate will be awarded tonight.
