RENO'S THESE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Consternation reigned in Reno. Paris and even Vera Cruz or Mexico City had charms outrivalling those of the Nevada beauty spot beloved of Mary Pickford. Tom Mix and others of the beau monde, who just love American home life--the more homes the better. Reno Rotarians felt that something had to be done.

And Reno's go-getters did it. Until it was all over the Neyada legislature did not realize that they had reduced the time of necessary in Nevada for prospective divorcees from six to three months. Again American pluck and daring has set the golden West several jumps ahead of the backward Latins of France and Mexico.

But notwithstanding this new triumph of American industry, Reno hotel men cannot sit back too blandly and wait for the dollars to pour in. In Paris a lively bootlegging trade has begun by which a divaree may be secured in three weeks for as little as 1,000 dollars plus passage and wine costs'. Worst of all is the possibility that such men as Senator Borah may effect a renewal of relations with Russia, where divorce is only a matter of minutes, and does not even require proofs of dementia praecox, chronic alcoholism, or sadism. The Soviet might almost stabilize the trouble on the proceeds.

But in the meantime Rene must be congratulated on keeping up United States supremacy. And if Russia ever should compete, be assured that Reno will find a way.
