Speakers Will Discuss the Censorship Plans Proposed for New York--Open Floor After Speeches

"Resolved: That this house approves a committee for stage censorship similar to that recently proposed for New York," will be discussed at the second meeting of the Spring term of the Debating Union, to be held tonight at 7.15 o'clock in the Union Living Room.

The motion will be proposed by Barrett Williams '28 who will be followed by D.S. Gibbs '27. E.C. Dewey '26 will be the third speaker. After the prearranged discussion the question will be thrown open to the floor.

The plan proposed for New York, which is an outgrowth of the recent suppression of the plays "Sex", "The Captive" and "The Virgin Man", provides for a board of censors composed of three actors, three producers and three playwrights.

D.W. Chapman '27 will preside at the meeting and L.H. Duggan '27 will act as secretary. At this meeting Chapman will announce the subject for the next debate.

That the manuscripts for the Union Essay Contest must be handed in today was also announced by the Union officials last night. These essays may treat any subject, but it was pointed out that those theses which have clearly been written for some course and are without any sort of style would be rejected. The first prize is to be $35 and the second $15.
