The 42 contenders for the Senior squash tournament prize awarded by President C. F. Adams '88, and Vice-president N. F. Ayer '00, of the Harvard Club of Boston, opened hostilities yesterday on the University courts. The finals and semi-finals, however, will be played at the Harvard Club in Boston.
Some of the best racquet wielders in the University are entered, but the competition is expected to be close.
Four Seeded Players
There are four seeded players in the tournament:--P. M. Lenhart '27, number one; H. P. Jackson '27, number two; E. D. Pratt '27, number three; and R. F. Spindell '27, number four. Lenhart, Jackson, and Pratt are members of the University team.
Because of the interest taken in this tournament it is possible, Coach Cowles of the university team declared that Senior class tournaments may be held annually hereafter.
Palmer Dixon '25, National Squash Racquets Champion, will use the University courts for practice two or three days before the opening of the National Tournament on February 19, it was announced last night.
