The University basketball team will play the opening game of the season against the Boston University quintet tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock in the Hemenway Gymnasium.
Coach E. A. Wachter named the following men as the leading candidates to start in the opening contest: centers, M. M. Green '28 and J. W. Filoon '28. Forwards, S. C. Burns '30, J. W. Baldwin '29, A. W. Slocum '28 and D. J. O'Connell '29. Guards, J. N. Barbee '28, J. R. Harper '28, J. H. Lane '28, J. L. Combs ocC, R. L. Hatch '28 and W. R. Harper '30.
Captain Barbee is the only letter man left from last year and the loss of J. D. Leekley '21 and K. D. Dorn '27, the two star forwards on the 1927 team is keenly felt. But reenforcements from last year's Freshman team give promise of successfully filling up the gap caused by losses due to graduation.
The Boston University five have the distinct advantage of having already played two games. The exact strength of the University quintet will not be known until they are formally seen in action.
The schedule already arranged consists of thirteen games, with two additional open dates. The season will close with the annual contest with Yale in New Haven on Saturday, March 3.
