The paring down of the University hockey squad to its fighting strength, and the announcement of a contest between graduate sextets of Harvard and Dartmouth on Thursday constituted the news that filtered out of the Crimson ice camp yesterday.

Eighteen men were retained on the University squad. The three sextets now composing the squad are: Captain J. P. Chase '28, A. B. Bigelow '30, H. W. Bigelow '30, John Cross '30, C. P. Clifford ocC., G. C. Holbrook '30, Willard Howard ocC., Waldo Howland '300, F. R. G. Giddens '28, B. H. Newell '29, Joseph Morrill '28, C. B. Lakin '30, A. W. Richardson '28, H. H. Richardson '30, John Tudor '29, A. L. Stott '29 and H. T. Wetmore '30.

The following alumni will represent the University in the game against the Dartmouth graduates: E. C. Clark '27, W. E. Crosby '24, J. B. Durant '27, W. P. Ellison '27, R. R. Higgins '22, Clark Hodder '25, J. M. Martin '22, George Owen '23, and Joseph Stubbs '20, newly-appointed coach of the University team, it was announced last night by Owen, acting captain of the sextet.

Freshman hockey was started officially when a group of first-year men formed two sextets and played informally in the Arena several weeks ago, Since then Freshmen have hired the Arena rink on every Sunday from 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock.

Although the men are not in shape yet, several flashy plays were made yesterday; the outstanding players were S. L. Batchelder '31 and J. B. Garrison '31. M. G. Gammack '31 is a promising goal-guard. The Freshman managerial competition will begin on December 13.
