The first of the series of tryouts to determine who will represent the University in the debate with Boston College will be held Monday at 7 o'clock in Harvard 1, it was anounced last night by A. F. Reel '28, president of the Debating Council. The subject for the debate is "Resolved: That Al Smith is eminently qualified for the presidency." The competition is open to all undergraduates in good standing. All candidates will be expected to prepare a five minute speech on the subject, taking either the affirmative or negative side of the question.
So great is the demand for tickets to the debate by the Boston College Alumni, that the committee has decided to issue the tickets only by application, and all Harvard men desiring to go will have to purchase their tickets early if they wish to attend.
