The University basketball quintet dropped the first game of its season to the Boston University five last night at the Hemenway Gymnasium by a score of 20 to 27.

At the end of the first half, Harvard led by a score of 14 to 12. The B. U. aggregation got the jump on the University five at the very start of the second half and was never led, although the University quintet spurted for a short period.

Captain J. N. Barbee '28, the only letter man left from last year, played a consistent game throughout. S. C. Burns '30 was the individual high scorer with eight points, closely followed by Captain Cohen and Cotter with seven points each.

Coach E. A. Wachter pointed out after the game that the forwards are the weak points in the team. He also stated that size, speed, and erratic performance were the elements to be considered in the stiff practice sessions to be held next week.

Despite the fact that the University hockey sextet also opened its season last night, there was a considerable crowd present to witness the contest.
