University basketball work will get under way tonight in the first meeting and practice of the season in the Hemenway Gymnasium at 7 o'clock. The Freshmen will not be called out until November 28.
Coach E. W. Wachter, who has been basketball mentor at the University since 1921, will outline the year's work to the candidates for the University team, and start the men on conditioning practice.
Captain J. N. Barbee '28 is the only letter man from last year who has returned to the University this fall, but J. L. Coombs ocC., a letter man in 1925, and S. C. Burns '30, a member of the Freshman basketball team two years ago, are eligible to play this season.
The Hemenway Gymnasium basketball court has been enlarged and remodelled during the summer, and provided with better facilities for night practice. The iron work over the court has been removed and a set of 12 large arc lights has been installed along the sides and ends of the court.
Obstructions near the basketball floor, which formerly interfered with the players when they ran off the court, have been removed.
