Under M. Danguay, University fencing mentor, the fencing squads are rounding into form, with competitive matches between members of the University squad every Saturday, and eliminative matches for the Freshmen coming at the end of next month, in preparation for the ten matches of the University schedule, and the six Freshman encounters.
Eleven men including five members of last year's team at present constitute the University squad. West Point, Columbia, Pennsylvania, Bowdoin, B. U., Syracuse, the J. Sanford Saltus Club of New York, and Yale, are on the University fencing schedule, with the New England Division fencing meets, and the intercollegiates, as the finales of the season. Definite dates have not as yet been announced, but the first meets will come early in February.
The Freshmen will meet Andover, English High School, the High School of Commerce, M. I. T., and Yale, at dates not yet announced. Of the 52 Freshmen practicing in Hemenway Gymnasium this fall, nine have had previous experience, so that the Freshman outlook is exceptionally good, M. Danguary declares.
