BELL AND DOUGLAS JOIN CROSBY ON SICK LIST

CASEY NAMES TENTATIVE ELEVEN FOR YALE FRESHMAN TILT

Injuries continued yesterday to dim the lustre of the chances of the University football team against Brown on Saturday. It was learned definitely that Dudley Bell '28, stellar pivot of the Crimson forward line, and J. G. Douglas '30, the Sophomore whose work at end has been a feature of the late games, will be unable to face the Bruins.

Bell was kicked in the side in the Pennsylvania game and his slow recovery has been hampered by a bad cold and an attack of indigestion. Douglas, in much the same situation, is being hindered in his recovery from minor hurts by a cold. Both of these players should be ready for the Yale contest.

Yesterday's practice again consisted largely of a dummy scrimmage between Team A of the University squad and the ineligible combination, which put on Brown offensive plays for the benefit of the Crimson defense. A brief workout on fundamentals and a session of tag football preceded this drill, and later Teams A and B faced each other in a period of dummy scrimmage chiefly devoted to offensive work.

B. H. Strong '28 and J. L. Combs ocC., at the wings on the Team A outfit. were shifted back to their old positions after exchanging ends in Wednesday's practice. John Parkinson '29 filled in at left guard at the start, but when A. R. Stewart '30 reported later, he abdicated in favor of the Sophomore.

F. A. Clark '29, at left tackle, was another who resigned his post to a Sophomore arriving late at the field. J. E. Barrett '30, Clark's understudy all season, filled the berth at the close of the work.

With these exceptions. Team A lined up as it did on Wednesday. R. W. Turner '28 was at center, Daniel Simonds '28 at right guard, and C. A. Pratt '28 at right tackle. G. K. Brown '28 was again at quarterback, with David Guarnaccia '29, A. E. French '29, and J. V. Potter '30 completing the backfield quartet.

Freshmen Work Easily

Coach E. L. Casey '19 is gradually tapering off the Freshman gridiron squad in preparation for the contest with the Yale first-year men on Saturday. Signal drill and a light workout was the program yesterday Casey stated tentatively that his starting line up would be the eleven men who have been regulars in every game this season, with J. B. Baldwin, left end: R. S. Warner, left tackle: J. N. Trainer, left guard: J. H. Gildea, center: F. H. Gade, right guard; R. H. Johnson, right tackle: R. S. Ogden, right end: T. W. Gilligan, quarterback: C. W. Huguley, left halfback: S. L. Batchelder, right halfback; B. H. Ticknor, fullback and captain.

The University Seconds will battle the Brown Freshman eleven on Soldiers Field this afternoon in their last contest preparatory to their annual meeting with the Yale Seconds
