CREW SQUAD CUT TO FOLLOW FIRST FALL RACE NEXT WEEK

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University eight spent yesterday afternoon experimenting with a new Lutz shell on the Charles, the various eights shifting about and each taking an initial row in the new craft. After practice the general consensus of opinion was that it was not quite up to the standard of the shell used in the race at New London last June, a shell constructed by Pocock.

Two short races are planned for next week, and about next Wednesday there will be a cut in the squad. At present there are eight crews on the river, but these will be reduced to five.

At least two three and a half or four mile races are expected to be held during the rest of the fall season, the distance depending upon the condition of the Charles river in the vicinity of Watertown.
