8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Foremost among the books announced for late fall publication by the Harvard University Press, many written by Harvard University Press, many written by Harvard men, is the publication of the first series of lectures given last year by Professor Gilbert Murray under the Charles Eliot Norton Foundation. This is entitled "The Classical Tradition in Poetry," and will be published late in October.
Professor C. H. Grandgent '83 of the University has written "From Latin to Italian," styled a guide book for students of Romance philology. "Tottel's Miscellany" is the title of a book written by Professor H. E. Rollins of the Department of English. This is a reprint of a prominent Elizabethan anthology, and will be followed later by a volume of critical notes. A collection of typical Puritan verse entitled "Handkerchiefs from Paul," by Assistant Professor K. B. Murdock '16 will be published in November.
Frequenters of the Fogg Museum will recognize with pleasure "Illustrations to Young's Night Thoughts" by William Blake. These are 30 reproductions of illustrations by William Blake found in a unique copy of "Night Thoughts," which is in the Museum.
Other interesting volumes to be published soon are "All These," a collection of critical sketches, by P. R. Frothingham '06; "The Care of the Patient" by Professor F. W. Peabody '03 of the Medical School; "Dreams" by Assistant Professor P. G. Stiles, also of the Medical School; "Cambridge Legal Essays," a collection of essays on various legal topics. Among the authors of the latter are Dean Roscoe Pound and Professor J. H. Beale '82 of the Law School.
