The University Freshman football team defeated the powerful Dartmouth first-year men in a hard fought encounter at Hanover on Saturday afternoon by a score of 9 to 6.
Late in the first period Captain B. H. Ticknor '31 received a short pass from T. W. Gilligan '31 and crossed the Green goal line for a touchdown. The Dark mouth Freshmen retaliated in the second quarter after an 80-yard march down the field, Sutton, a substitute fullback, carrying the ball across to even the score.
In the third period, Ticknor added three points to the Harvard tally by kicking a field goal.
This victory gives the Freshmen a total of three wins and a tie to date with two more games scheduled that with the University Seconds on November 2 and that with the Yale Freshmen on November 12.
