AGGIE FIVE HANDS CRIMSON QUINTET DECISIVE DEFEAT

Fast Connecticut Aggie Offense Is Too Much for Crimson Courtmen--J. N. Barbee '28 Stars for Losers

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Connecticut Agricultural College basketball team handed the University quintet its first defeat of the season Saturday night when it swamped the Crimson men, 89 to 24, at the Hemenway gymnasium.

This makes the second successful invasion of the fast-moving Connecticut quintet, who defeated the Harvard basket tossers last year, 25 to 24.

The flashy playing of J. N. Barbee '28 was the outstanding factor in the work of the Harvard team. Starting the game at center, he was soon switched to his regular berth at left guard. In addition to scoring five of Harvard's points, he played a consistent all around game, showing up particularly well on the defense. J. D. Leekley '27 at left forward was high scorer for Harvard. He netted three goals from the floor and one from the foul line, cooperating with Kenneth Dorn '27 in penetrating the Aggies' defense.

Captain Malick stood out at right guard. M. M. Green '28, veteran center, whose injured ankle has ben keeping him on the sidelines for the past several games, saw action in his regular berth when Barbee was switched to a guard position.

The visiting five from the Nutmeg State got away to a fast start, scoring first, and holding on to the long end of the tally throughout the game. At the end of the first period Connecticut led 21 to 9.

The Watson-Williams-Eddy offence combination was too much for the Crimson. Williams in the pivot position was the stellar light of the game, scoring seven goals from the floor. Watson and Eddy, starting forwards, eluded the Crimson defense for 21 points between them.

Saturday's defeat checked the four consecutive victories of Harvard over Boston University, M. I. T., Clark and Worcester Polytechnic.
