HARVARD FUND CHAIRMAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO SAMUEL D. WARREN

Hamlen Lands His Associate Who Died Two Days Ago

By Chairman HARVARD Fund committee and Joseph R. Hamlen

"By the death of Samuel D. Warren of the Class of 1908, Harvard University and its alumni have suffered another great loss. Warren, after his retirement from a successful career in business, volunteered his services to the Harvard Fund Council when it was established nearly two years ago, and also to the Harvard Endowment Fund, and until his death gave to this work the rare tact, understanding, and self-sacrifice which few men posessed to a greater degree.

"The charm of his personality to which was added the grace of his physique and the bouyancy and simplicity of his nature was a constant inspiration and joy to those with whom he was associated. No alumnus was more devoted to the University. His death leaves a vacancy which will be most difficult to fill."
