GOLF CLUB OFFER MADE TO HARVARD

H. A. A. Will Obtain Memberships if Demand Is Indicated--Players Must Pay Greens Fees

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The opportunity of obtaining a University of golf course has been offered by the Weld Golf Club of Brookline. This offer will be discussed in a meeting in the Varsity Club at 7.15 o'clock tonight of all those interested in golf.

The Athletic Committee has not taken any action as yet, because it has had no indication of this demand among students for golf privileges. Provided that the student body shows sufficient interest at the meeting tonight, it is practically certain that the Athletic Committee will take immediate action toward procuring the necessary membership, it was announced last night by E. D. Cole, manager of the Golf team. If the University is to take advantage of this opportunity, it must do so at once before the membership in the Weld Club is filled.

Players Must Pay Fees

Unlike most of the private clubs, this is organized on a 'Pay-as-you-play', basis. By purchasing a number of transferable memberships, the course will be available to all students of the University. At present the course consists of but nine holes, but work on the other nine will be completed by spring.

Membership in the Weld Club would mean that the students of the University would be able to play on week days during the spring and fall. It would also mean that a Freshman team could be formed.

If sufficient interest is shown at the meeting, golf will undoubtedly be accepted as a regular form of required athletics.
