Within the next two or three weeks almost every non-athletic extra curriculum activity open to Freshmen will have issued its call for candidates from the entering class.
The managerial competitions are the first non-athletic activity to get away. On Monday, September 27, candidates for both the 1930 football and cross-country managerships will be required to report at the offices of the Athletic Association in the basement of the Union. The football competition will close about ten days prior to the final game, that against Yale in New Haven on November 13.
Announcement as to the exact time and place of the openings of these and other competitions may be looked for in the columns of the CRIMSON and on the various bulletin boards.
Band Organizes Next Week
The first musical organization to organize is the band. Trials for this University organization, which plays at the football games, mass meetings, and at occasional concerts, will be held early next week. Regular rehearsals will follow immediately, and the season's debut will be made in the Stadium when the University eleven opens against Geneva.
Both the Lampoon and Advocate will start competitions in both the literary and business departments. The CRIMSON does not open its doors to the Freshman class until after mid-years.
