Red Top: Conn., June 11--The Harvard Freshman and second University crews took their first time trials over the two mile course on the Thames river this afternoon.

The Second crew covered the distance in 10 minutes 25 seconds, while the time made by Captain Norton's boat was not announced.

Second Boat Unchanged

The weather was warm and the water calm for the trials. The Second crew remained in the same order that it, rowed in yesterday, being seated as follows: Stroke, Watts; 7, Walcott; 6, Weymer; 5, Gates; 4, Canning; 3, Barry; 2, Farnham; bow, Perkins. Not many changes, if any will be made in this crew before the race, Coach Brown apparently being contented with the eight.

Several substitutes, who were rowing in one of the two Second crews are trying out for the combination eight, but Smith, who gave Watts a battle for the stroke position, has returned to Cambridge. Coach Newell is alternating Jr deW. Hubbard and Bancroft between bow and 7 in the combination boat.

The University crew took an easy workout today, paddling a few miles in both morning and afternoon.
