University Seconds Defeat Exeter 5 to 3 in Hard-Fought Contest

The second University tennis team won from Exeter yesterday afternoon by a 5 to 3 score in a meet featured by unusually close matches. All of the contests except two went to three sets, the last one being called at eight all on account of darkness.

The summary:

Jensen (H) defeated Ingraham (E), 26 10.S, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4; Thorndike (E) defeated Thompson (H), 4-6, S-6 6-3; Kingsbury (H) defeated La Chapelle (E), 2-6, 6-3, 6-1; Rueter (H) defeated Cookman (E), 6-1, 7-5; Shapiro (H) defeated Glidden (E) S-6, 3-6, S-6; Ingraham and Holloway ( (E) defeated Jansen and Allen (H) 2-6, 10-S, 6-4; Kingsbury and Rueter (H) defeated Thorndike and La Chapeele (E), 7-5, 6-2.

This afternoon the Freshman team. led by R. H. Whitebeck will meet the Newton High netmen on the Waban Courts
