COLLEGE JOURNALISTS TO CONVENE AT HANOVER

The seventh annual convention of the Eastern Intercollegiate Newspaper Association will be held this year at Dartmouth on May 28 and 29. The undergraduate chiefs of the eastern college publications who will gather together at that time will be the guests of The Dartmouth.

The purpose of the convention is to discuss questions vital to university newspapers with particular emphasis on matters of editorial policy, and to review the accomplishments of the college press during the scholastic year which is now drawing to an end. It is expected that outstanding editorial policies, notably those concerning overemphasis of football, abolition of compulsory chapel, and prohibition, will be crystallized so that a more unified policy may be suggested for the college editor's pen during the coming year.

Dartmouth President to Speak

Prominent among the speakers who will address the convention is Ernest M. Hopkins, President of Dartmouth College, who will take the subject of the undergraduate voice in educational policy. This is a matter of great moment at present, especially at Harvard where the Student Council report and the recent undergraduate meeting with the Overseers have brought it to the attention of both Faculty and students.

Other speakers will be Professor Wilbur Urban, President of the American Philosophical Association, on "Undergraduate Values"; Professor Leon B. Richardson, author of "A Study of the Liberal College", on "Curriculum Reform"; and Lewis Fox, President of the National Student Federation of America, on "Relations between the Federation and the Collegiate Press."

F. V. Field '27, President of the CRIMSON, J. L. Prescott '27, Business Manager, and D. S. Gibbs '27, Editorial Chairman, will head a delegation of Harvard representatives to the convention.

The Eastern Intercollegiate Newspaper Association has 19 members, including the daily papers of all the leading eastern universities. Its officers, who are elected yearly are: President, E. J. Duffy Editor of The Dartmouth: Vice-President, R. A. Eichelberger, Editor of The Pennsylvanian; and Secretary-Treasurer, C. H. Hornburg. Business Manager of The Dartmouth.
