EMPLOYMENT OFFICES TO WORK IN COOPERATION

Pending the establishment at some future date of a vocational office which will handle all the work of Senior placements, the Student Employment Office has arranged a new plan of cooperation with Alumni Appointment Office and with the Committee on the Choice of Vocations by which the Secretary for Student Employment will take over most of the work which is now being done by these offices.

Since it is expected that in the future steps will be taken toward the strengthening of the Alumni Appointment Office or the establishment of a general vocational office the present arrangement will be in force for this year only.

During the rest of this spring, however, Seniors who desire positions may work through the Student Employment Office, 2 University Hall, as well as through the Alumni Office at 50 State Street, Boston. The saving of time which this will allow Seniors during the Divisional Examination period is one of the most valuable features of the new program.

There are two main elements in the plans which W. W. Daly '14, Secretary for Student Employment, has made for carrying out this work.

Interviews Will Be Held

The first consists of interviews for individual students or groups of students with men who are connected with different professions or vocations. Notices of the men who are coming to the University will be published in the CRIMSON, and letters also sent to those men who signified their interest in the various vocations on the questionnaire recently sent out by the Committee on the Choice of Vocations. The Alumni Office and the Student Employment Office will notify men who are registered in either of these places of any openings of the type they desire.

Mr. Daly's second endeavor will be to find definite positions for men who come in to consult him with this view in mind. He will get them in personal touch with prospective employers from whom they may expect to obtain permanent jobs.

The following terms of the cooperative arrangement between the Alumni Office and the Student Employment Office have been approved by the Secretary of the Alumni Association and by the Secretary for Student Employment: Each office will notify the other of men placed and positions filled. Mr. Daly will further notify Miss Mork of men registered at his office giving a sketch of the man and his desired of jobs which are brought to his attention and of standing opening for novices. Miss Mork will also keep Mr. Daly informed of calls for men leaving college, of concerns with standing openings for novices, and of the men who are registered at the Alumni Office.
