UNIVERSITY AND FRESHMAN RIDERS TRY TO RECOUP LOSSES

The University polo trio will journey to Providence today for a match with the 103rd Field Artillery mallet men in the Rhode Island armory tonight. The 1929 riders will attempt to break into the win column at the same time, when they clash with the 110th Cavalry Officers at the Commonwealth Armory.

The Crimson horsemen were off to a slow start in the indoor league this year due to difficulties in obtaining stabling and practice, but have been improving rapidly of late. Last week's defeat at the hands of the strong 101st Field Artillery riders by a half point margin was a bitterly contested match and proved the University three a formidable combination in spite of the fact that they los.

Playing on a strange floor tonight and without their own mounts the University mallet team will be handicapped seriously in the match with the powerful army trio. The lineup tonight will be unchanged, with three veterans of the University's intercollegiate outdoor championship team facing the Artillery riders. Captain R. A. Pinkerton '27, hard riding back, F. D. Stranahan '26, number one, and Holden White '28, number two, with E. A. Tutein '28 as substitute, are the players who will make the trip to Providence today.

The 1929 mallet wielders will probably line up with J. R. Remick '29, at back, and B. P, Gibb '29, and J. P. Cotton '29, as number one and two respectively The Freshmen suffered a reverse at the hands of the 51st. Artillery Brigade horsemen in their first match two weeks ago but displaced flashes of brilliant polo.
