Strings Attached: How Harvard’s Wealthiest Alumni Are Reshaping University Giving
Facing a moderately difficult season, the University fencing team is now holding daily practice in the Hemenway Gymnasium. Within a few weeks will begin regular weekly tournaments held each Saturday with a view to determining the real competitive worth of each candidate.
With the graduation of the entire foils team, and several of the other swordsmen, Coach Danguy will have a hard task to mould a winning team from the comparatively inexperienced material on hand. The most promising team-members are Captain R. P. Outerbridge, '28, Manager A. C. Lane, '27, M. R. Berliner, '28, J. F. Davidson '27, D. F. Edgar '29, C. B. Hollister, '29, and G. H. Umbsen, '29, the last three stars of last year's Freshman aggregation.
Schedule Is Tentative
A tentative schedule has been drawn up, including five dual meets with rival institutions prior to the semi-finals of the Northern Division of the Fencing League to be held at New Haven March 18 and 19. Yale, Dartmouth, M. I. T. and Columbia will be the University's opponent's in this contest. The winning team will fence at the Intercollegiate Meet at New York April 1 and 2. Yale, with an exceedingly, strong veteran team will be the favorite to represent the Northern Division of the League.
