W. J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics through the Committee on Regulation of Athletic Sports, has asked Arnold Horween '20, head coach of of the University football team, to continue in this position with a contract running over a period of several years. The Committee is very anxious to retain Horween's services and has offered him this contract. No further details were available.
Although Horween has not as yet given any definite answer, and since it is unlikely that he will do so for some little time, nevertheless, it is hoped by the University athletic authorities that he will react favorably and continue in his present capacity.
When Horween signed a one-year contract as head coach, many expressed the fear that his lack of experience would handicap him in his attempt to lead the University eleven, but the great and steady improvement of the team and the potentialities which it has shown have led the Committee to believe that he is entitled to a long-term contract.
