AFRICAN MISSIONARY TO SPEAK AT P. B. H.

A. D. Helser M.A. and Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society will address two meetings at the University today under the auspices of the Harvard Mission. Mr. Helser has just completed his first term of missionary service in Africa, and before returning to that continent at the end of November, is visiting a number of colleges in this country.

Mr. Helser has been doing pioneer missionary work at a new station in the interior of Africa, a thousand miles from the coast. His experience as a traveler, explorer, and missionary in the Dark Continent has been extensive. He is the author of a book on travel entitled "In Sunny Nigeria" that stamps him as an expert on African customs.

"Why Missions?" is the subject on which Mr. Helser is scheduled to speak at the Phillips Brooks House at 4.30 o'clock this afternoon. The meeting will be informal and Mr. Helser will answer questions in an open discussion at the end of his talk.

At 6.45 o'clock this evening, Mr. Helser will be in Standish Hall Common for an informal talk to the Freshmen on "Why I Go Back to Africa." This talk will be based chiefly on Mr. Helser's personal experiences as a missionary in the interior. As at the afternoon meeting, there will be ample opportunity for questions and for discussion. Although the evening meeting is primarily for first-year men, it will be open to other members of the University who were unable to attend the Phillips Brooks talk.

Attended World Conference.

Mr. Helser is a graduate of Manchester College, Indiana, and holds degrees from both Columbia and the University of London. He has recently returned from the World Conference on Africa, held at Le Zaute, Belgium, where representatives from every country interested in the Dark Continent attended.
