Professor Alfred Jeanroy, Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures in the University of Paris, will be the Exchange Professor from France to the University for the second half year it was announced last night. He will give a series of 12 lectures covering generally "Le Theatre Francais au Moyen Age." The titles of the separate lectures are as follows:
Comprehensive view of the subject. The liturgic drama in Latin.
The bitingual or French liturgic drama. The wise and the foolish virgins. The Jeu d'Adam.
The thirteenth century miracle.
The fourteenth century miracle.
The Passion Play; its sources: its development until the fifteenth century.
The Passion Play in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
Other Miracle Plays, religious and profane.
Definite organization of the theatre, the scenery, the actors and the authors.
The end of the religious theatre, its literary and historical importance.
The "Theatre Comique", its origins, the "Confreries Dramatiques."
Monologue, Pantomime, and Farce.
"La Sotie" and morality.
These lectures will be given twice a week; they will be conducted in French and will be open to the public.
