James Lawrence '01, of Boston and Hyde Park, has been selected by directors of the Harvard Alumni Association, as Chief Marshal of the alumni at Commencement next June, it was announced yesterday. Mr. Lawrence was nominated by members of the class of 1901 who will celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary of graduation from the College at Commencement this year, and in accordance with the tradition will furnish the Chief Marshal.

Mr. Lawrence was first marshal of his class as a Senior and president of his class through his four years an an undergraduate. He was a tackle on the football teams of 1899 and 1900, and rowed on the 1899 and 1901 crews both of which defeated Yale eights.

He has been active in business civic and phfanthrople affairs to Boston, and was vice chairman of the Boston chapter of the American Red Cross, and is a member of the Boston Chamber of Commerce.
