FRESHMEN LIKE BRILLIANT CRIMSON LUTZ-BUILT SHELL

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first Freshman eight made its initial trip yesterday in the Pocock shell which was built last year for the 1927 crew.

A short row from the Weld boathouse demonstrated the fact that the new boat rolled heavily with the Freshmen. Accordingly, upon returning to the float the crew left the Pocock shell and took their oars over to the Newell boathouse, from which they embarked, in the new Lutz-built shell. Practice went far more smoothly and great satisfaction was expressed with the boat. When put to a vote as to which the Freshmen would prefer to keep, a unanimous decision was given in favor of the Lutz-built shell.

Since its last appearance on the river, the Lutz boat has undergone a transformation in color. A brilliant green when last seen, it emerged yesterday deep crimson in hue and rough in finish.
