To the Editor of the CRIMSON:
I have read the editorial entitled "The Vital Point" in this morning's issue of your paper and I wish to say that I am quite out of sympathy with your attitude expressed therein.
I consider that the present social service work for undergraduates is entirely hypocrytical. I know many college men who have taken it up. I know that practically all of them have done so for the modicum of social prestige which they hope to gain. I know that they make themselves and others believe that it is from the highest motives of brotherly love.
It would be better to have no social service work at all than to have it done through such genteel insincerity. Herbert A. Jacobs '26.
