Candidates for Triangular Contest to Speak Wednesday

Trials for the Freshman debating team will be held in Smith Halls Common Room on Wednesday evening at 6.45. This meeting, which is in charge of F. E. Bowman 1G, former Secretary of the Debating Council, is open to all members of the Freshman class.

The debate, which is triangular, will be held on April 5, one Freshman team debating Yale at New Haven and the other meeting Princeton in Cambridge. The subject for the trial is, "Resolved. That the Eastern states should establish state universities." Every one trying out, will be expected to prepare a five-minute speech on either side of the question.

At 7 o'clock tomorrow evening a competition for manager and assistant manager of the Freshman team will begin with a meeting of candidates in Matthews 11. The candidate who is chosen manager after about three weeks' competition will accompany the Freshman team to New Haven, and the Assistant Manager will have charge of the team debating Princeton in Cambridge.

The management has announced a meeting of the Debating Council for tomorrow afternoon at 5 o'clock in Weld 43.
