Two of Oxford's six first places in her 6-5 victory over Cambridge Saturday were won by R. L. Hyatt '24, former University track star.
Hyatt, who was a high jump man at the University, captured the shotput and pole vault events in the meet Saturday.
Hyatt, who was regarded as one of the best all-around athletes at Harvard, was for two years a star on the track team. In 1923, although handicapped by an injury to his back, received in his Sophomore year, he won the high jump in the Yale meet and last year, still troubled by his injury, he placed in the broad jump. He also ran in the 100-yard events.
"Hyatt was one of the best athletes I've known," said Coach Farrell of the track team in a statement to the CRIMSON yesterday. "His versatility is shown by the different events he has taken part in. He is a high-jumper, a pole-vaulter, broad-jumper, shot-putter, and sprinter. And beside that, he is a Phi Beta Kappa man"
