In the first debate over held between the two colleges, Harvard defeated Dartmouth last Saturday night at Banover, taking the negative side of the question: "Resolved, that this house views with alarm the present tendency of eastern colleges to stress the standards of business and professional utility in college education."

Preparations are now being made for the Freshman triangular debate with Yale and Princeton under the direction of Coach F. E. Bowman 1G. A meeting will be held tonight at 6.45 o'clock in Harvard Hall at which men may try out for the team. Candidates should prepare five-minute speeches on either side of the subject: "Resolved, that congressmen should be elected by proportional representation in the several states."
