8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
All candidates for the University baseball team will report at the Locker Building Monday afternoon, March 2, at three o'clock, Coach E. M. Mahan '16 announced yesterday afternoon. There will be a meeting for Freshman candidates on Thursday, March 5, at 7 o'clock in the Smith Halls Common Room.
Seven "H" men are expected to return to the University team this year. They are Captain J. W. Hammond '25, A. W. Samborski '25, J. E. Toulmin '26, C. L. Todd '26, A. G. Rogers '26, and E. L. Gehrke ocC. Gehrke has shown equal ability as catcher or pitcher, but yesterday he worked out among the pitching candidates and probably will remain in this department. Samborski, who hurt his arm just before the Yale game last year, is not yet certain whether the injury will heal sufficiently to allow him to return to his position as catcher. Scholastic difficulties have again cut a number of promising players. Among them are R. H. Booth '27, last year's brilliant Freshman pitcher, and I. R. Duchin '27.
Coach Mahan was uncertain in predicting the date of the first outdoor practice. Although outdoor practice is seldom assured until April 1, Dennis Enright, caretaker at Soldiers Field, declared that continued warm weather might mean outdoor practice by March 15.
