PROF. GRANDGENT WILL SPEAK ON DANTE TODAY

Has Written Books About Italian Poet and Edited "Divine Comedy"--Is First of Series of Lectures

Professor C. H. Grandgent '83 will give the first lecture of a series on ancient and modern authors when he talks on "Dante" in Emerson D at 4.30 o'clock this afternoon.

Professor Grandgent is an eminent authority on Italian literature and especially on Dante. He has written several books on the great Italian poot, including. "The Power of Dante", and "The Ladies of Dante's Lyrics". He is also the editor of a well known edition of "The Divine Comedy".

In recognition of his distinguished services to the University, and its alumni. Professor Grandgent was recently elected President of the Harvard Alumni Association to succeed Justice E. T. Sanford '85, of the Supreme Court. He has been professor of Romance Languages at the University since 1896 with the exception of a brief period when he served as exchange professor at Paris.
