DEBATING UNION TO DECIDE IF PROHIBITION IS A JOKE

Professor Arthur N. Holcombe '06, Professor of Government, will preside over the Debating Union discussion, "Resolved, that this house regards prohibition as a practical joke," to be held at 8 o'clock tonight in the Faculty Room of the Union.

George Slaff '26, who was to speak for the negative, and A. P. Donovan ocC., of the affirmative team have exchanged places to accomodate their personal beliefs, it was announced today. The remaining debaters will be M. M. Drake '27, and A. G. Cooke '26, for the affirmative, and J. R. Creel '27 and Joseph Skinner '26, for the negative. The discussion tonight will be open to speeches from the floor following the formal arguments.

Before the discussion is opened tonight an election will be held to choose a president, secretary, treasurer and two members for an advisory committee, of the Debating Union. The electing committee is composed of E. J. Metzdorf '26, C. T. Lane '26, W. I. Nichols '26, and R. H. Field '26.

Delcevare King '95, who had previously announced his intention of attending the discussion tonight, sent word yesterday that he will not be able to be present. Mr. King included in his letter, however, his arguments for the negative.
