UNIVERSITY TO WITHDRAW FROM THE SOCCER LEAGUE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard and Yale both contemplate withdrawing from the amateur soccer league, according to the admission of Major Moore yesterday.

"I had not intended that this information be given out until we had formally dropped out, but a Boston paper jumped the release. The reasons for this action are threefold. Harvard has always made it a point not to belong to leagues, which are binding on schedules, and we want absolute jurisdiction in this connection. Also, games have to be played after the Harvard-Yale game, and come as an anticlimax. They are often played at a distance from Cambridge and in inclement weather. Henceforth we intend to conclude the University schedule with the Princeton and Yale games.

"Colleges in the immediate vicinity of Harvard have taken up soccer now, and provide good competition without the difficulty of a long journey.
