An earthquake was observed in the seismograph at the University observatory at 9.21 o'clock yesterday morning, according to Professor K. F. Mather, Professor of Geology. The quake was one of unusual intensity, not reaching its maximum until 14 minutes after the first tremor. The seismograph record indicated that the disturbance was about 4500 miles in a southerly direction from Cambridge.
