The University wrestling team faces a heavy schedule this year with good prospects. Although several veterans of last year have been lost to the team, their places will be adequately filled.
At present there is plenty of material in every class, which lacks only time and practice before Coach Lewis can determine its worth. Preliminary trials will be held in the light and middle-weight classes on Wednesday, December 16, and in the middle and heavy-weight classes on Thursday, December 17. The purpose of these trials is to eliminate all but the three best men from each class, so that these men may devote themselves to serious training.
Crook and Millet Lost to Squad
Among the men who have been lost to the University squad by graduation are Crook, one of last year's regulars, and Millet, who proved an able substitute. Also Hill, a very valuable man in the 145-pound class, will graduate in January. Fortunately, however, there is plenty of good material with which to fill out, and Coach Lewis already sees at least three good men in each class for his University team.
The schedule which the team will face this year is unusually good. It includes eight meets, beginning with Columbia and ending with a dual meet with Yale.
The Freshman squad has a few good men, but these are supported by very little material for substitutes. Consequently Coach Lewis sends out a call for more candidates among the Freshmen, especially in the lighter weights, 115, 125, and 135 pound classes.
Practice for the University and Freshman squads will continue full time up to December 23. After Christmas the time will be somewhat shortened.
