APOLOGY FOR THESE--

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Many sons of John Harvard are justly ashamed of the spirit of vandalism which displayed itself in the destruction of goal posts in the Brown Stadium on Saturday.

Theorists are fond of urging in defense of sport that athletics promote courtesy and fair play--certainly indispensable qualities in men of good breeding. Saturday's incident and similar cases by students of other colleges show that these benefits of sport do not extend in equal degree to all the spectators.

In behalf of the great majority of the students of Harvard the CRIMSON offers to the students of Brown an apology for this unwarranted act of destruction committed in the name of sport.
