POWERFUL CRIMSON HARRIERS SWEEP TO IMPRESSIVE VICTORY

Another victory was scored by the University cross-country men yesterday when they completely overwhelmed Yale and Princeton in a triangular meet here. This is the last intercollegiate run for the Crimson harriers before the I. C. A. A. A. A. meet next week, and they will have a perfect record behind them for that encounter. The score was Harvard 20, Yale 47, Princeton 66.

Tibbetts Breaks Record

Three of Harvard's runners finished far in the lead, with Captain W. L. Tibbetts '26 about 100 yards ahead of all competitors. Setting a new record over the course, he crossed the finish line in 28 minutes, 9 and 4-5 seconds. R. G. Luttman '28, Tibbetts' closest follower, did the course in 28 minutes 24 seconds, and E. C. Haggerty '27, also of Harvard, finished six seconds later.

Fourth place was taken by Captain M. L. Smith of Yale; after he had led the entire field almost to the half-way mark. It was not until they reached the Watertown bridge that the three Crimson runners passed the Eli leader. Smith's time was 28 minutes 53 seconds, or just 23 seconds behind Haggerty. The Bulldog captain's poor showing was undoubtedly due to an early season injury, which has kept him out of several meets this year.

Watters Finishes Sixth

Another Eli runner, A. M. Briggs, took fifth place, and J. N. Watters '26 followed, capturing sixth for the Crimson. Not until six runners had crossed the line was Princeton able to score, when Captain J. K. Vodrey, first man for Princeton, took seventh place.

The Freshman harriers will face the Yale 1929 runners at New Haven this morning, at 11 o'clock. Since the first meet, held informally with the Arlington High School team, the first-year men have made a very creditable showing, and it is likely that today's race will be a hard-fought contest.

They will race as follows: J. O. Wildes, Captain; A. S. Woodworth, Philip Hichborn, J. W. Downing, J. P. Emmons, W. R. Maclaurin, P. P. Wadsworth, W. R. Driver, J. J. Smith, and F. H. Pollard.
