Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Although the Brown eleven that faces Harvard tomorrow is often called the strongest that has ever represented the Rhode Island University, it has the relatively unimpressive record of four victories and three defeats. All of the important games this fall have ended with the Bruin on the short end of the score.
Starting the season with the best backfield material in history, Brown faced its first entirely "home" season with high hopes. Rhode Island State College was the first opponent to invade the new Brown Stadium, and Captain Stifler's men had little difficulty in running up an impressive score. The 33 to 0 victory augured well for the future.
Defeated Colby Without Stifler
Another triumph, with the same score, was registered against Colby on the following Saturday, although Captain Stifler was ill and unable to play. The defensive work of the comparatively inexperienced Brown line was especially encouraging to Coaches Robinson and Brown.
Facing the mighty University of Pennsylvania team on October 9, Brown went into its first big game on even terms with the invaders. Both teams put their full strength into the battle.
Penn Held for Only One Period
The might of Kruez, Red and Blue halfback, proved too much for the Bruins. In the first period Brown, with Keefer and Payor showing their usual brilliance, outplayed the visitors; but the Pennsylvania machine gathered power as the game went on and emerged a 9-0 victor.
The first of the misfortunes that have beset Brown all season occurred in the Pennsylvania game, when Stephens, who had been filling the great Eckstein's shoes at center in fine fashion, was badly injured. His loss meant the shifting of Hodge from tackle to center, with Magee going to tackle.
Smith Hurt on Eve of Yale Game
The following week Brown won easily from Bates, 48 to 0, and was primed for the big struggle with Yale on October 23; but a day before the game, Smith, heavy Bruin tackle, was badly hurt, and Brown's chances were considerably diminished.
The first of the two dedication games in the Brown Stadium opened sensationally, when, in the early minutes, Keefer and Dixon started the Yale ends for long gains and scored a touchdown.
The Elis, however, were not to be denied, and battered their way to three touchdowns. A great rally by Brown in the final period failed to produce a score, and the final figures stood at 20 to 7.
Line Mangled by Yale
In this game Brown suffered a severe blow through injuries to Hodge and Magee, which put both players out for the season and caused a hurried rebuilding of the line in preparation for the Dartmouth encounter..
Luck was against Brown in the Dartmouth game. Expected to dash to an easy win, the Indians of the North were played to a standstill. Dartmouth scored two touchdowns when Sage blocked a pair of punts, but the famous big Green offense was completely stopped. A forward pass from Mishel to Broda put a Brown touchdown over the line, but it was called back on a penalty.
Last Saturday Brown had something of a breathing spell, and walked through Boston University for a 42-0 win. The play system of determining the length of the game was used for the first time in history, and satisfied the coaches of both teams. Brown used the aerial attack with great effect against B. U.
Aims at First Major Victory
In the second dedicatory game in the Brown Stadium tomorrow, Brown will be striving for its first major victory of the season. Almost all of the cripples will be ready for action again. The Bruin's record of victories and defeats to date may not be very impressive, but the quality of football that the team has consistently showed makes it a favorite over the Crimson in tomorrow's encounter.
