A cast of veteran actors has been announced for "Le Controleur des Wagons-Lits," a comedy by Alexandre Bisson chosen by the Cercle Francais for production this December. Miss Janet Sabine will again play the leading feminine role for the Cercle, while the principal male characters are to be acted by E. P. Etting '28, who played important roles in all of the Cercle's productions last year; C. S. Smith '27, and Y. H. Buhler '20, former president of the Cercle and distinguished veteran in French dramatics.
Ernest Iselin Jr. '26, President, and R. D. Merian '27 also are experienced actors, but have been unable to give sufficient time for anything but relatively unimportant parts this fall. Other young ladies of Boston taking important roles in the forthcoming play are the Misses Elizabeth Lyman and Charlotte Moseley.
"The comedy is the most amusing of M. Bisson's famous plays," explained M. Perrin, for 20 years coach of the Cercle Francais dramatics, in a statement to the CRIMSON. "When first played on the French stage, it scored one of the greatest, if not the greatest, success of any of the author's works."
Subsequently M. Perrin himself played the part of Georges Godefroid 200 times in the Theatre des Nouveautes, which used to stand on the site now occupied by the Paris office of the Guaranty Trust Company.
"I am immensely pleased with the progress that has been made in rehearsals so far," said M. Perrin last night. "There should be no difficulty in preparing the present cast for an excellent presentation this winter."
