PURPLE HARRIERS TO COMPETE OVER NEW COURSE TODAY

Holy Cross will oppose the University cross country team this afternoon in the second encounter of the season.

The line up to be used will be essentially the same as that which triumphed ever Middlebury last week with a score of 17 to 47. With weather conditions somewhat improved, it is expected that better records will be possible. E. C. Haggerty '27, who did the five miles in last week's rain and mud in 30 minutes 10 seconds, came in first against Middlebury, and is expected to show good form this afternoon. R. G. Luttman '28, who led Haggerty up to 25 yards from the finish line and placed second, is not in this afternoon's line-up.

Captain W. L. Tibbetts '26 finished third, while L. J. Novogrod '27 followed the one Middlebury runner who placed across the line L. B. R. Barker '26 was the last man to figure in Harvard's scoring, as the first five men for each team are the point scorers.

The race this afternoon will be held, as last time, over the new five mile course, which keeps to the river bank almost the whole way along the Cambridge shore instead of going some distance from the river as formerly.
