GREEN TEAM HOPES TO KEEP GOAL UNCROSSED

HARVARD GAME NEXT WEEK OPENS HARD MONTH FOR GREEN

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Hanover, N. H., October 14.--Even a fierce blizzard swooping down from the north with its fine cutting snow could not interrupt the progress of a much improved Dartmouth team as it scored its third victory of the season last Saturday by defeating Vermont 50-0. The Green again kept its goal line uncrossed.

The team is now preparing for its game this week against Maine, the last opponent which the Green will face before it embarks on its assignment of downing Harvard, Brown, Cornell and Chicago on successive Saturdays. It is hoped that the team may enter upon these later games unscored upon.

The team showed a remarkable improvement in the Vermont game over the playing of the previous encounters and drove through the opposition with six consistent and consecutive drives for touchdowns during the first half without a loss or fumble. Not a forward pass was attempted during the entire game. The team played straight football and relied on its interference and precision which were very effective.

Lane, a Sophomore, is Starring

All of the players but one are in the best of condition and no injuries have resulted from any of the games. The single injured player is Robinson, substitute halfback, who received a severe wrench during an unusually heated scrimmage preceding the Vermont game. He has been carrying his arm in a sling since then and will not be ready for the Harvard game although it is expected that he will see service in the others.

Lane, a Sophomore, did most of the ball carrying for Dartmouth against Vermont and he was the star of the game. Although Oberlander was taken out at the end of the first quarter after he had made several long runs it seemed as though he was outclassed by his running make Lane. Lane chalked up eleven first downs beside making four touchdowns. He still lacks experience but is seasoning fast.
