Injuries suffered while diving this summer have temporarily deprived the crew and cross-country squads of the services of two star Sophomore athletes, John Watts Jr. '28, captain of the Freshman crew last spring, and A. H. O'Neil '28, formerly Freshman track and cross-country leader.
Watts struck his head against the bottom, while diving at Watch Hill, R. I., on August 20, and suffered concuasion of the brain and a severely strained back. He will be unable to now until later this autumn, but is expected to be in good shape for winter crew work.
O'Neil, who broke the Freshman cross-country record last fall, sprained his ankle while doing some fancy diving five weeks ago and is still forced to limp noticeably. It will be at least a fortnight before he can join Coach Farrell's squad of harriers.
