At the annual meeting of the Society of Directors of Physical Education in Colleges held in New York during vacation, Dr. W. H. Geer, Director of Physical Education at the University, was elected president to succeed J. D. Nichols of Ohio State University.

At this meeting the new program of physical training that is being introduced at the University of Illinois, where a four year course of compulsory physical exercise for every student is about to be applied, was discussed.

Dr. Geer said that it the University should ever attempt such a radical change in its athletic program every athletic facility would of necessity have to be enlarged enormously.
