CHILD LABOR AMENDMENT IS SUBJECT FOR DEBATE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University debating teams will discuss the question "Resolved: that this house favors the adoption of the Child Labor Amendment," when they oppose Williams and Wesleyan debaters Saturday night in the second Eastern Intercollegiate Debating League contests. The affirmative speakers take on the Wesleyan negative team at 8.15 o'clock in Paine Concert Hall of the Music Building, while the negative men will go to Williamstown to debate with the Williams affirmative team.

Speakers Selected

The two teams were definitely picked last night by Coach Hardy after a series of trial debates most of which were held last week. In the Paine Hall debate Barrett Williams '28, R. W. Lishman '26 will speak against the Wesleyan team while A. L. Nathanson '26 will act as the alternate. Opposed to them on the Wesleyan team will be H. N. Eggleston, C. M. Gifford, and P. N. Bronson, alternate.

The judges of this debate will be Judge E. H. Brewster of the United States District Court; the Reverend J. C. Massee, Pastor of Tremont Temple, and E. B. Sargent of the Boston Herald.

The negative team that has been chosen to debate Williams is made up of E. C. Sibley '28, George Slaff '26 and F. W. Lorenzen '28, alternate. The negative team leaves for Williams College Saturday morning and will ride six hours on the Boston and Maine before reaching Williamstown. The Wesleyan speakers will be entertained by the University management during the hours on Saturday before the debate and after their arrival in the middle of the afternoon.

The University debaters are tied with Williams, Yale and Columbia for first place in the league with two wins and no defeats.
