Four Juniors and three Seniors were appointed yesterday to the Student Council by the original group of elected councilmen. Two of the selections were made to fill vacancies caused by the absence from College for the coming year of two elected members, and the other five selections were made in accordance with the new Student Council constitution which provides for the appointment of one-third of the Council membership by the two-thirds elected by the upper two classes.
Those appointed were:
Alden Briggs '25, of Brookline.
Donald Bossom Fleming '25, of West Newton.
Philip Walker '25, of North Brookfield, Mass.
Nathaniel Saltonstall Howe '26, of New York.
Joseph Carlton McGlone '26, of Natick.
Everett Wells Martin '26, of Middleboro, Mass.
Alfred Hart Stafford '26, of Newtonville, Mass.
Howe and McGlone to Fill Vacancies
The appointments of Howe and McGlone were made to fill the vacancies left by R. G. Allen '26 and C. McG. Wells '26. The new appointees were next high men to Allen and Wells in the election last spring.
The full membership of the Council will meet in the Crimson Building this morning at 10 o'clock to elect officers for the coming year.
The new appointees are prominent in various extra-curriculum activities. Briggs is an "H" man in tennis and is a member of the Glee Club. Fleming is business manager of the CRIMSON and an Editor of the Register. Walker is a member of the Liberal Club, president of the Debating Union, and a member of the University debating team.
Howe is an "H" man in football and hockey. McGlone is an "H" man in football. Martin was secretary treasurer of his class last year and was a member of his Freshman hockey team. Stafford, a football man, was injured before the Yale game of his Freshman year, was ineligible last year, but is at present a promising quarterback on the University squad.
