ALLEN'S GLOBE CIRCLING TRIP HURTS TRACK CHANCES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

University track prospects suffered a severe jolt when it became known on the eve of the opening of the College that R. G. Allen '26, star middle distance runner, will not return to College this year. Allen and R. L. Brooks '26, another track man, will leave this country shortly for a trip of a year or more around the world. They are making the trip as the guests of Lord and Lady Astor, the latter being Brooks aunt. Before sailing from San Francisco for the Orient in mid-October they will be the guests of Douglas Fairbanks for a few days.

Allen plans to return to Harvard and complete his course upon his return from abroad. He was captain of the 1926 Freshman track team and an "H" man last year, although a pulled tendon kept him out of the Yale dual meet.
